Foundation Stage
‘If you go down to the woods today …….’
Our theme for this Autumn term ‘If you go down to the woods today’ based on the Early Years context for learning. The children will be learning about lots of different woodland animals especially the ‘Nocturnal’, ‘Diurnal’ and ‘Hibernating’ kind!
During the sessions we will be helping to make the Forest School area into a suitable place for our woodland friends to find food and shelter over the winter months. We will be cleaning our hedgehog home and making it ready for the winter period and hanging a bat nesting box. We will continue to feed our feathered friends as well as our resident squirrel. We will also be thinking about the changing seasons, animal habitats, and what animals need to survive the natural environment.
By ‘Working together’ we will learn to work as part of a team when playing games such as 1, 2, 3 where are you? The children will also have a go at new challenges like whittling a stick with a potato peeler and using tools.
