Pupils with disabilities at Pear Tree Mead Academy
Pupils with disabilities are welcomed at Pear Tree Academy. We are a fully inclusive school and ensure that pupils with disabilities are not treated less favourably than other people by following our curriculum access plan:-
- All staff remain aware of National Curriculum Inclusion Statements
- Lessons are always responsive to pupil diversity
- There is full curriculum access for pupils with a range of disabilities and appropriate strategies are identified in planning
- All staff are aware of available specialist support
- A regular review ensures pupils with disabilities can participate in the wider curriculum e.g. clubs and school visits
The school was built with a range of features to ensure comfortable accessibility for children and adults with disabilities. These include extra wide classroom doors for wheelchair entry, disabled toilets and showers. Also included are ramps and handrails outside all main buildings. We have a disabled parking space and a ramp to the front entrance.
