Black History Day Celebrations
On 3rd October we celebrated Black History Month. In class the children learned about many different black iconic figures and why we should celebrate black history month. The children in year 6 learned about Windrush, Year 5 celebrated historic black sports stars. Year 5/6 learned lots about Nelson Mandela and his famous speech. In year 3/4 the children were fascinated by the story of Rosa Parks and enjoyed writing a newspaper article about what happened to her. Year 1 and 2 wrote some lovely poems about the wonderful nurse Mary Seacole. Throughout the day each class took part in different workshops including African drumming, African Mask Making and African dance. The children had a great day and learned many new things.
